Fatima was born into a non-musical family of Seven. Having started singing at a very young age, she did not receive any formal music train until 2006. Same year, she entered for the MUSON Talent Hunt/Competition where she got to the semi-final stage. She was later invited to join the MUSON choir after the Music Director Mr. Emeka Nwokedi picked interest in her voice. In 2007, she was granted scholarship by Communication Giant MTN to study music for two years at the MUSON School of Music and Conservatory. She made best overall result in the 2010 Associated Board of the Royal School of Music (ABRSM) London Grade Singing Examinations. She has sang major Alto Solos from Handel’s Messiah, Bach’s Mass in B minor and Christmas Oratorio, Beethoven’s 9th Symphony and a host of others. She is currently working on improving her opera repertoire to meet and compete with International standard and to celebrate the Contralto voice here in Nigeria.
